The weather finally cooperated today in combination with our schedule (no job interviews or visits to check out potential daycare facilities for Caleb) that we could go to the zoo. I'd only been promising it to Caleb for the last two weeks. He absolutely LOVES this place. Obviously he's just riding one of the coin operated rides in the above picture, but below you can check out some of the really cool things we saw this visit. You can check out some more pics from a past zoo trip here.
First up were the deer. I apologize for the poor quality of these photos. Not that I'm ever a stellar picture taker, but today Andrew had our camera at work so I was stuck using my cell phone.

Followed by the giraffe(s)

Inside the Pittsburgh Zoo there is also an aquarium (included in the price of admission). Caleb LOVES to just sit here and watch the fish and sharks in this huge tank. I had to drag him out of here so we could go see the polar bears....

The polar bears are almost always an awesome exhibit to check out. Out of the times we've been there I'd say we've caught them in the water about half the time. And the great thing about this is that they have a really neat underwater viewing tunnel so it is almost like you are swimming with them. This was the first time I saw them actually dive down to our level in the viewing tunnel. Mommy thought it was awesome and would have stayed there all day until they got out of the water. Caleb was ready for the sharks...

We literally were this close to the bear. No zooming at all in this picture! All that separated us was the several inches thick glass.

I think my kid is the only one who is infatuated with sharks. He literally ran out of the awesome polar bear encounter so that we could go see the sharks. Did I mention that Caleb knows exactly which animal comes next as we walk through the zoo?

Another favorite is visiting the animal statues all throughout the zoo.

But I absolutely CANNOT get this kid to look at the camera for a picture. I swear when I ask him to look at me he looks the other way...exactly how he was in the womb, and exactly how his father is to this day!
