Happy Birthday, Frog!

Caleb's been buggin' about "maybe for Christmas we can..." And when I finally convinced him that Christmas was a long way off and that his birthday would come before that then he started bugging "maybe for my Birthday..." Nope, still pretty far off bud. By then the baby will be here and even that is still pretty far off. So from the mind of a three year old came the idea that it was going to be Frog's birthday. Frog is one of this stuffed animals that he goes to sleep with every night. All week last week he told me that today was Frog's birthday. When he first mentioned it I was thrilled with the idea. I remember when I was a child I had all sorts of little Care Bears figurines. And I distinctly remember telling everyone that it was one of their birthdays all the time. My dad at one point took Oreo cookies and removed the top. He cut the cream filling into little slices so that the Oreo itself looked like a miniature cake perfect for my little Care Bears. I'll never forget that.

So when Caleb mentioned about Frog's birthday, I had that memory in the back of my mind. I told him each day that Frog's birthday wasn't until this weekend. On Friday after work he helped me back cupcakes for Frog's party which was scheduled for after Caleb's nap on Saturday. So after nap, I gathered up all of his stuffed animals and sat them around a table.

I put cupcakes at each place setting, we lit candles and sang Happy Birthday to Frog, and Caleb blew out the candles before we all chowed down on delicious chocolate cupcakes with either peanut butter icing or green icing {for Frog's coloring of course}!

Caleb {and Frog} loved it! Now I'm just waiting for him to announce that it is the birthday of any one of his 20-ish other stuffed animals. We'll be having birthday parties every weekend! Making my little man happy and getting to fulfill a pregnancy craving at the same time = winning!
