Y3W | Anniversary Edition

On this day five years ago, I married my best friend. So much to celebrate this year. Last year I wrote this post, and it is so awesome to reflect on that day and see how things have changed in the past year. Today, we both took the day off from work and spent time shopping for and fixing up our new house. It may sound lame, but it was a perfect way to spend the day! I guess getting the hardwood floors refinished in our new house was our gift to each other on this our "wooden" anniversary.

First, the one I should have posted last week.

Got Caleb some new creek shoes at Walmart the other day. The temperature has been getting into the 80s this past week, so I figure we'll be in the creek by Memorial Day! My boy's gonna love summer!

On to this week.

Friday morning we closed on OUR FIRST HOUSE! Ok, fine, Andrew was a homeowner before, but this is my first time and therefore OUR first time! We're locked into our apartment lease until July, so we're planning to take our time to do some updates and painting before we move in. We should be in by mid-June, and I'll be sure to post before and after pics when we do!

And finally!

After our closing on Friday I drove to DC to see my sister graduate with her Master's degree from George Washington University! So pround of you, D!!

The boys had a blast together and so did the mommies. Last weekend's visit from our best buddies Cortney and Easton was a huge success. Thanks to Cortney from Cortney Talbott Photography for the picture of the boys.

This weekend our friends, Cortney and Easton, are visiting from Arizona. We are all so excited to have them here and to show them around our new city. Now we just have to hope that the weather cooperates for our warm weather friends.

This weekend we're kicking off our search for our new home with an all day outing with our realtor on Saturday and possibly hitting up the open houses on Sunday. It's going to be a crazy busy weekend, but fortunately we have my parents coming to visit to spend lots of quality-spoil-me-rotten time with Caleb. This will be the first house that we'll purchase together, and probably the last one for a very long time. It's exciting, scary, exhilarating, and exhausting all at the same time; but I'm confident that we'll find the place that is right for our family!

This weekend we'll be visiting Caleb's new favorite place, "the dinosaur museum" {aka The Carnegie Museum of Natural History.} Strangely, I actually think I like this place better than the Science Center. Hmmm...maybe I should have been an archaeologist myself??

Having grown up in eastern central PA as an Eagles fan now living in Pittsburgh, I feel conflicted about the Steelers in the Super Bowl. I love my new home so, so, so much. And I am so happy to be back on the east coast after 7 years of living in Arizona. I feel very much at home here, and I want to be a part of the enthusiasm and hype that is going on here right now. But I'm also not quite sure that I'm ready {or ever will be ready} to be an all out crazy Steelers fan. So, I'll probably pay a little more attention to the game this year than I have in the past, but I'm pretty sure I'll be happy on Monday no matter what the outcome of the game. I can't say the same for the rest of the people living in this city. And from that standpoint, I don't know which outcome I should be hoping for so that things will go back to normal and we can focus on the sprint to March Madness.

It's been a busy week, and we've got family visiting this weekend, but I'm planning to update on the "State of my Job" very soon including answering the burning question, "What the heck is in that picture?"

24 Hour Flu

No pictures for this one. Trust me when I tell you that you wouldn't want to see them even if they did exist. Suffice to say that Andrew and I were watching TV last night when, about an hour after Caleb went to bed, we heard a horrible noise coming from his room. I ran in to find him laying in a huge pool of puke. Picked him up out of the bed and headed across the hall to the bathroom when he puked again all over me and the carpet in the hallway. Got him in the bath and cleaned up and into new pajamas and brought him into the living room to sit on the couch with me. He climbed off my lap and onto the floor only to puke again on the living room carpet. This time I caught most of it...with my hands. Awful! Finally about an hour and a half later we got him back to sleep in my arms and back into his own bed. I ended up spending the night sleeping in his room with him, but fortunately he didn't have any more puking episodes, just a bunch of stomach convulsions throughout the night. Poor thing!

He slept for most of the day today...I'm talking a 6 hour nap
straight through from 9:30-3:30, and went back to bed at 7pm tonight. In between he managed to eat some yogurt, fruit and crackers and so far (fingers crossed) he's kept them all down. Here's hoping we can get through the weekend without anyone else in the house having another bout with that nasty bug!
