10 Months and BIG NEWS!

No, I'm not pregnant (Mom, I know you were thinking it. Did you really think that I'd announce that on here?). Keep reading to find out the big news, (which you probably already know if you receive text messages from us).

Now, onto the recap of the past month. Once again, I'm having trouble believing that another month has already come and gone. We're another month closer to the end of the baby phase and the start of the toddler phase. We're another month closer to celebrating C's 1st Birthday, and I just can't believe it. Tonight as I was holding him and nursing him before bed, I thought back to how tiny he was when we first brought him home from the hospital, how I had to support his head while he nursed. And now here he was deciding that, yep, he was finished eating and it was time to sit up and try to hop out of my lap. It truly is amazing how quickly they change in the first year of life. Someone should really tell you this stuff in the beginning (HA! Yeah, I know EVERYONE tells you this in the beginning. You just can't possibly fathom it until you've experienced it. I can't believe that no one has invented a time machine yet to deal with this problem).

In the last month C has gone from downing two jars of stage 2 foods per meal 3x a day to wanting nothing to do with food that he can't feed to himself. I really thought that I had at least a little while longer before he'd be on all table food, before I was forced into having to make dinner every night and make sure to prepare leftovers so that he can eat his favorite food group, Meat, the next day at lunch. Currently minuscule pieces of steak are his favorite. I don't even think that he takes the time to chew them (which by the way makes for some LOVELY diapers). He has also gone from doing the army crawl to full on crawling on his knees. He is now able to climb up an entire flight of stairs in a matter of a minute or two. He is ridiculously good at it, and lately he seems to be making an attempt to explore more of the upstairs of our house. At least, he leads us up there quite frequently.

I knew it was only a matter of time before our monthly pictures because next to impossible to take. I'm quite honestly surprised it took this long. I started out trying to capture some images of Caleb with the bear as usual, but he wanted nothing to do with it.

I thought maybe if I gave him a toy to chew on, that perhaps I could at least get something of him sitting still next to the bear. Bad idea.

But, then we took a little break and I was able to get a few that were better.

"Mom, I think the cat is doing something he's not supposed to be doing over there."

And finally, my favorite for this month (despite the bright glowing red eyes). I call it the "I'm too sexy" pose.

And now what you've all been waiting for. The biggest news from the last month is this:

We Have A Walker!

In just the past few days Caleb has started to really let go of objects and stand on his own. He also started standing in the middle of a room as long as he's holding on to something that allows him to keep focus. Last night he started taking a step or two at a time on his own. And tonight I set him down in our living room after dinner and he just took off taking about 10 steps until he ran into a pile of blocks that were sitting on the floor. Of course, A pulled out his cell phone and took this video as I immediately picked C up and set him back down to see if he'd walk some more. Sure enough, this is what resulted:

He continued to do this all night walking toward different objects including our cat. I'm sure it won't be long before he's using his new found mode of transportation to get around full time and Andrew and I will be right behind chasing him all over the place. Congratulations Cale-y Bear! We love you and are so proud of you! Happy 10 months little man!
