Made a couple attempts, and fell through the ropes...

So mom had to show him how it was done...

Now he's got it...

Let's take a picture. Look at daddy...

Ughh...maybe not...

There we go. That's as good as it gets...

Time to head down...

Oops...small stumble...

There's the face I love.

Parenting 101 - Do not laugh when your kid does something socially inappropriate.

During dinner last night Andrew took a drink of soda (not pop!). Afterward, he burped. Caleb proceeded to pick up his cup of milk, take a drink, then make an intentional sound that was similar to daddy's burp.

How do you not laugh at that?

I just happened to capture this as I was trying to take a picture of our Saturday night family Thomas Uno game. Check out the matching waving hand to block the camera and the matching furrowed brows. My boys really hate having their picture taken!

Tonight's Favorite Moments

Tonight's theme is Caleb {surprise, surprise}
  1. Watching Caleb head off excitedly with the tween boy who lives next door to go hang out at the neighbor's house with a bunch of neighborhood kids. He didn't even look back. Sad to see my baby growing up, but so very happy that he is coming out of his shell and making friends!
  2. Hearing Caleb say, "Sit on the grass with me mommy!" as we walked to the car with our Farmer's market purchases of strawberries and peaches. Perfect opportunity to break out the fresh strawberries for a snack on the grass. The weather was absolutely perfect for our little snack-nic {did ya catch that play on "picnic?"}
  3. Seeing Caleb's face covered in strawberry juice and watching peach juice stream down his arm and drip off his elbow as he ate a peach like an apple.
  4. Back at the apartment when Caleb realized that we'd already moved all his games {which he usually plays during our nightly chats with GranB and Pop Pop on Skype}, so instead he broke out his Toy Story dress up clothes and proceeded to dress GranB and Pop Pop {aka. my computer} in the Woody costume.

We've spent the last month slowly getting things torn apart and put back together at our house. It is finally starting to feel like home. A few things of note from this weekend:
  • Working a lawnmower is like riding a bike. Even though it has likely been over 10 years since I've mowed, it came right back to me today when I started up our new mower and cut the grass at our house.
  • No matter how old I get, there will always be something about the smell of fresh cut grass mixed with the smell of hot dogs on the grill and fresh corn on the cob that will take me right back to my childhood.
  • There's something extra special about eating frozen pizza off paper plates when you're surrounded by your family and eating at your new patio table in beautiful, breezy summer weather. I can't wait for all the family dinners that we'll enjoy on our screened in porch for years to come!
Hopefully we'll be 90% moved after next weekend and officially living at the house. Pics to come once we're settled in!

Opening Day

Farmer's Market opening day that is. Caleb and I had been waiting all winter and all spring for this day. I didn't even know how excited he was until I mentioned about it coming up and he shocked me by remembering that "market day" means it is Wednesday.

The market was a bit thin today since it is still early in the local produce season, but we did manage to pick up some AMAZING strawberries and raspberries along with some fresh bread. There is just something so delicious about a home grown local strawberry that even the best grocery store strawberries cannot come close to matching.

But my favorite part about the market is the tradition that we started last year just after we moved. After we're done with our shopping we pick up a small Italian ice, sit in the grass alongside the parking lot, and share our treat.

Of course we had to drink the last few drops that melted.

The aftermath...red lips and red spots all over his shirt. Totally worth the mess because these are memories that I know I'll cherish for a lifetime, and I can only hope that Caleb does too.

We had so much fun, and I look forward to continuing our weekly dates this summer.
