Hello, Mommy!
Sometimes Caleb will take a late evening nap that goes on so long we end up having to wake him up. Ordinarily I try not to wake the sleeping baby, but in these cases in order to avoid an extraordinarily late bed time for mommy and daddy, we make an exception. The best part is getting to watch this precious child sleep so peacefully! There is just something incredibly special about watching a baby sleep. Next time around I'm investing in a video monitor!
Weekend Recap - Part II
Yes, I'm cheating by spliting this post into two, but I figure since you're getting so many pictures, it should certainly count as two!
So, we finally woke C up so that we could head to our friend Easton's Halloween themed 1st Birthday Party. Here's the birthday boy digging into his cake.
And here are some of the kiddos dressed in costume:

And Charlotte the Bear
I lamented during the party that we never get any trick-or-treaters at our house because of the location, and being the amazing friend that she is, Cortney invited us over to spend the evening at their house. We took the boys out to a few houses and then spent most of the evening handing out school supplies...that's right, school supplies. Cortney, a former elementary school teacher (and avid supporter of dental health!), hands out pencils, erasers, etc instead of candy. What a great idea!
Trying to get a good shot of the boys in costume was like pulling teeth. We finally gave Caleb one of the above mentioned pencils to suck on while Easton couldn't have moved in that costume even if he wanted to!
And a pretty good shot of the four of us if I do say so myself! (Ok, Caleb wasn't looking at the camera, and Easton was wiped out from the events of the day, but Cortney and I look FABULOUS!)
The boys had a great time Trick-or-Treating. Caleb even wanted to run into people's houses to find more Candy!
Sunday was spent mostly relaxing, but we did get out to the 2009 Great Cajun Cook-Off and Food Fest with our favorite newly engaged couple, Josh and Ashley, who offered us free tickets to the event. It was great to again get out of the house and to sample all the great cajun food made by local restaurants. Caleb enjoyed running around in a large open grassy area. Needless to say, he took another great nap that afternoon.
If I had to put one downside on the weekend, it would be that I had to write exams and submit midterm reports for my students, but honestly the good far outweighed the bad. I'm hoping for more of these great weekends this fall!

Weekend Recap - Part I
First of all, I have to say that I think this was possibly one of my favorite weekends since I started back to work. I grew up in a family that was all about the go, go, go, so I'm not used to sitting around on weekends. Unfortunately, since we are usually so completely wiped out by the end of the week, we've been doing more of the hanging out at home lately and it is driving me nuts. This weekend we had lots of fun things planned, and at the end of the weekend I actually felt like I had gotten away from work and was refreshed and ready to start again today.
We started off the morning on Saturday with pumpkin carving. This guy was supposed to have six teeth like C, but thanks to my lack of carving skills and a "too wide" knife, he ended up looking more like a hockey player pumpkin.
Next, I took some pictures of Caleb in one of his Halloween shirts while he ran around our living room.

I first read about this earlier today on a friend's blog. NaBloPoMo or National Blog Post Month is a challenge to write one blog post per day for during the month of November...30 posts in 30 days. I've been feeling really annoyed lately about the number of blog posts that I've been doing, so this may be just the kick in the pants that I need to start. I'm already one day behind, so look for two legitimate posts later today.
