My mom loves to tell this story about when I was in grade school. One night it snowed. I think we had a two hour delay and by the time that school started there was really no snow on the ground. I INSISTED on wearing my snowsuit to school so that I could go outside and play in the snow during recess. We must have argued about it for quite a while until my mom finally said that I could wear the snowsuit to school. At which time we continued arguing because I now REFUSED to wear the snowsuit.
And thus was born the phrase, "If I made you do X you'd have a fit." To this day whenever I insist on doing X {where X is something completely absurd}, my mom will use this phrase.
Tonight, I moved to the other side of this conversation. It was like Deja vu, but from the flip size. Caleb insisted on wearing size 24 months fleece pajamas. The kid is 2.5 years old and over 37" tall. So yeah, the 24M PJs DO NOT fit him. He looked so uncomfortable, but every time I asked him, "Do those pajamas fit you?" or "Are you comfortable?" The answer was always a resounding, "Yes!"
My response?
"If I made you wear those pajamas, you'd have a fit."
