Pudding in the Bathtub

Little man did a great job with dinner tonight, so he was rewarded with a pudding cup for dessert. About halfway through the cup, he requested to eat his pudding in the bathtub. Since it's been getting more and more difficult to get him in the tub these days, we happily granted his request as he ran down the hallway to the bathroom yogurt cup in hand. Plus, it made for some really cute pictures.

Cudding Up With a Good Book

For over a week now Caleb has been insisting on going to bed with a book. I could capture a picture like this one every night when I sneak in to check on him before I head to bed myself. So glad he loves reading!

A Boy, Not A Train

Back in December, Andrew and I attended his work holiday party where we had a great time. After that I told him that we should try to get together with one of the other couples. Andrew works with Mark. Mark's wife and I clicked and we also found out that our boys are only two months apart in age. Three months later we finally got together with them and their son Edward. When I told Caleb we were going to meet a new little boy named, Edward, he thought we were going to see a train. We met up at the Science center and the boys had a blast looking at the trains and playing with the exhibits. They particularly enjoyed playing together on this "plinko-like" thing.

When the ball got to the far end of the table, it would fall in a hole and then roll back underneath the other side. The boys would simultaneously bend down to get the ball.

Once we taught them about taking turns, they did great with it even going so far as to hand the ball to each other when it was the other boy's turn. So cute!

A cell phone picture of a picture, but you get the idea. Who is this kid, and what did they do with Caleb? My kid couldn't possibly have looked at the camera and smiled at the same time, could he?

Playing Dress Up

This morning Caleb had a follow-up appointment with the pediatrician to check his ears. So I stayed home with him and took him to the appointment. I told him the night before that he was going to see the doctor in the morning, so when he first woke up he said, "I need to watch videos because I am sick." Goofball! But mommy thought that sounded like a good idea, so we watched a bit of Toy Story 3, and Caleb thought it would be fun to break out his Woody and Buzz dress up clothes to watch the movie.

Awful pictures, but he didn't want to have his picture taken (shocking!).

DeJa Vu {Second Generation}

My mom loves to tell this story about when I was in grade school. One night it snowed. I think we had a two hour delay and by the time that school started there was really no snow on the ground. I INSISTED on wearing my snowsuit to school so that I could go outside and play in the snow during recess. We must have argued about it for quite a while until my mom finally said that I could wear the snowsuit to school. At which time we continued arguing because I now REFUSED to wear the snowsuit.

And thus was born the phrase, "If I made you do X you'd have a fit." To this day whenever I insist on doing X {where X is something completely absurd}, my mom will use this phrase.

Tonight, I moved to the other side of this conversation. It was like Deja vu, but from the flip size. Caleb insisted on wearing size 24 months fleece pajamas. The kid is 2.5 years old and over 37" tall. So yeah, the 24M PJs DO NOT fit him. He looked so uncomfortable, but every time I asked him, "Do those pajamas fit you?" or "Are you comfortable?" The answer was always a resounding, "Yes!"

My response?

"If I made you wear those pajamas, you'd have a fit."

Mushrooms

Caleb LOVES these mushrooms. We first discovered them last fall as we were taking walks around the neighborhood next to our apartment complex. They are in "some lady's" yard.

Sidenote: I assume that some old lady lives at this house and keeps these mushrooms out year round. But then I figure that she must clean them regularly because there is no way that they'd stay looking like this if they weren't cleaned every now and then. And then I realize that I've just spent fifteen minutes thinking about ceramic mushrooms. Fifteen minutes of my life that I'm never going to get back.

Anyway, we rediscovered them this spring now that we have a warm day every now and then. Every time we go for a walk, Caleb insists on stopping to look at the mushrooms. On this particular day he said, "I'm just going to sit down and watch them for a while." He loves pointing to them and telling me what colors they are and how many of each color there are.

I think I know what I'm getting him for a house warming present when we find a house and make the big move.

But Boys are Sweet Too

Caleb spent most of last weekend giving HUGE hugs and saying the most adorable phrase I've ever heard, "Mommy, you're my buddy."

Sunday morning when I went into his room to get him he said "Mommy, come cuds with me." So glad he has a full size bed and I can sneak in a few cuddles in the morning still even if it does only last a minute or two.

Boys are Gross

While driving in the car I look in the rear view mirror to see Caleb rubbing his nose. The following conversation ensued...

Me: "Caleb, what are you doing to your nose."

Caleb: "I'm just picking it."

Me: try to hide laughter so he doesn't think picking your nose is funny

... a minute passes with silence...

Caleb: "I ate the whole thing."

Lovely isn't it?

This weekend we're kicking off our search for our new home with an all day outing with our realtor on Saturday and possibly hitting up the open houses on Sunday. It's going to be a crazy busy weekend, but fortunately we have my parents coming to visit to spend lots of quality-spoil-me-rotten time with Caleb. This will be the first house that we'll purchase together, and probably the last one for a very long time. It's exciting, scary, exhilarating, and exhausting all at the same time; but I'm confident that we'll find the place that is right for our family!

Happy Birthday Audrey

Caleb was being a bit silly tonight, and I know he can do better than this. But with a 2 year old, you get what you get!

Happy 1st Birthday to our niece, Audrey!
