We had our first (and only) storm of the season earlier this week.
(I did not take this picture. I borrowed it from a local news station's website.)
One year ago we still didn't know if we'd have a new son or daughter in our lives, but the evidence was mounting that it would be a boy. First, at our BIG ultrasound around 19.5 weeks, Andrew *thought* he saw something "down there" while the technician was doing measurements on the baby's legs. I wasn't convinced that as an amateur he could read ultrasounds that well as the wand was whisked across my belly. Then at our growth ultrasound at 28 weeks the ditsy technician told us to look away while she measured the legs since we had said we weren't interested in finding out the sex until birth. Immediately after doing the measurements she said, "It is a good thing you didn't look." Well thanks for that little bit of insight moron! And finally, there was mommy's instinct. While I never really had a super strong feeling that I was carrying a boy baby, I never felt like I was carrying a girl baby. We had decided to pick one boy outfit and one girl outfit to take to the hospital for the hospital pictures, and I had a really difficult time picking a girl outfit because I just didn't feel like I'd be using it.
Despite all this we really didn't know for sure that our first born was a boy until the doctor held him up and said, "What is it mom?" What an amazing moment and sooo worth the wait!
Almost a year later, we know for sure that Caleb is ALL BOY! Here's the evidence. This weekend Andrew had some baseball and soccer games on TV (Yes, he watches them simultaneously flipping back and forth. Don't all men do this?) and Caleb made his way over to the couch, grabbed two different remote controls then turned his head to watch the TV as if to say, "Mom, don't even think about changing the channel."
And, here's what happened when we watched the All Star Home Run Derby last night.
**DISCLAIMER: He crawled up to the TV by himself. I did not place him there for the purpose of taking this video. As soon as the 30 second cell phone video recording was complete, he was removed from the situation so as to protect his eye sight and hearing!
Today he'll be wearing his "All Star" shirt in preparation for the game tonight. Hopefully I'll remember to take a picture of that to share.
